I’ve been an artist for most of my life. It’s part of my earliest memories, although life took over at times with raising a family, being a Mum and Stepmum and part-time work.
In 2001, I decided to turn professional after a health scare that made me reassess my future and what I believed was my lifelong purpose. There followed 9 years of dedicated art training, exhibitions, and multiple international awards.
Growing up on the coast, I was usually in the sea snorkelling or riding my beautiful black mare, Azureé through the waves.
Art and my lifelong love of the ocean are entwined.
The ocean is my place of refreshing where I pause, be still, pray and reflect. My artwork is birthed from there.
I work with mixed media; inks, watercolour, acrylics, natural crushed ochre pigments from the Australian coast. Sometimes, pure gold and silver, all together in multiple layers.
Something in nature touches my heart and I use whichever techniques from my ‘toolbox’ I need to create what I feel onto canvas. This means that there is some variation in my work, I don’t paint the same thing over and over.
That’s not me! I paint from my heart, from passion and vision.
What is my vision?
To touch hearts and to bring a sense of peace many of us feel beside the sea. The sound of its rhythm, the refreshing salt wind and sand between your toes.
I hope my art takes you to that place.
