Why Abstract? Using Abstract Art to explore the world.

There’s so much in nature that inspires me , not just oceans!
I love to paint freely in abstract, expressing that beauty and emotion. .
Here, in these yet to be named paintings, I’m abstracting the tropical landscape by building layers of colour and taking #abstract shapes from nature, as ‘bones’ of a painting, or maybe it will just to ‘be’ a painting. .

Each painting is a journey, a conversation, an exploration of a thought, an emotion, a reaction or idea.
Abstraction has taught me a lot as a painter. I use it to explore composition ideas, colour palettes and combinations of marks, tools and mediums.
Plus, I find that just the act of decreasing real objects down to shapes and blocks of colour is a great discipline that helps me, the artist to ‘see’ in a deeper way, the everyday ordinary things around me.
