STAR GAZING, 2013
56x76cm abstract art in mixed media on 300gsm watercolour paper. UNFRAMED ORIGINAL, one only.
Inspiration: Featuring some of my signature techniques and luscious earthy colours.
When I lived in the Northern Territory we used to go out camping most weekends.
Driving through the bush in the Landcruiser, with just a compass for direction.
At times there would be a track to follow and at others times we’d be hanging on to the door handles will the SRV negotiated the often rocky terrain.
Sometimes we would be surprised by wild camels, horses or an occasional Wedge Tailed Eagle.
The amazingly, beautiful Australian outback with a it’s red gold sand and spiked green spinifex grass that would constantly get stuck in my hiking boots and socks.
It’s my home.
I’d sit by the camp fire at night pulling the spinifex from my socks, while dinner was cooked in the camp oven, expertly done by my sister.
Sleeping under the stars was amazing. Far from any city lights, no tents, just the swag on the dry river bed sand.
The Sky would come alive with shooting stars and satellites lighting up the heavens.
What an adventure!
This original painting is for sale, it’s 56x76cm mixed media on 600gsm arches watercolour paper.
It can be framed and as it’s varnished it doesn’t need glass on top or I can fix it onto a canvas.
